Background

After ASEAN harmonized guideline on the release of agricultural related GMOs in 1999, the ASEAN GMF Testing Network was established by ASEAN ministers on Agriculture and Forestry at its 25th meeting in 2004 for building up network to share and leverage resources and expertise and enhance GM food testing capabilities on each other.

Scope and objective

•Cooperate reginal platform for regulation and scientific exchange on issue related to GM food analyses.

•Contribute effectively towards harmonization and standardization of methodologies for sampling, detection, identification and quantification of GM food in ASEAN.

•Enhance collaboration and capacity building activities within and outside ASEAN.

•Organize annual meeting on rotational basis among ASEAN member countries.
